Discover Calgary From Above, Below, and Within is a commercial we were hired to produce for Rocky Mountain Sidecar Adventures and The Calgary Tower in cooperation with Tourism Calgary and Travel Alberta.
The concept is simple enough — see Calgary from a whole new point of view. Take a trip in a motorcycle sidecar with professional drivers and tour guides and see Calgary up close and personal. You’ll be invited into places you may never have been before, like quaint coffee shops, patisseries, breweries, and even distilleries, and then finish the day high above Calgary on the glass floor of the Calgary Tower.
This production included two weeks of pre-production, one solid day of filming with an aerial unit, ground unit, and mobile unit — along with pickups from stunt drivers — resulting in 34 hours of footage which had to be cut down to 60-seconds over the following three weeks of post-production.
The owners of Rocky Mountain Sidecar Adventures, Warren and Nicole were lovely to work with; and the team of Katie, Adam, and Camron at The Calgary Tower were amazing; also everyone at Travel Alberta were exceptional and always available for feedback; Jessica at Ol’ Beautiful, Andy and the team at Gravity, and Jeremy at Bridgeland Distillery were extremely accommodating and outstanding to work with (you should go give them a visit). Also, we could not have pulled this off without Lissa, Jolayne, and Luke at Calgary Economic Development.
